abstract |
This geophysical survey has been carried out by British Geological Survey (BGS) for BGS, the survey took place in October to November 1968 at the end of BGS cruise 1968/5 on route from Oban to Plymouth on board the RRS John Murray. Gravity and echosounder equipment were run during the passage and magnetometer where weather conditions allowed. A small detailed survey was carried out in the southern Irish Sea (31 Oct-1 Nov) which included use of sparker. The purpose was to collect data for use in regional mapping. Sea floor data were collected using a precision depth recorder. Sub-bottom profiling data were collected using sparker. Gravity meter and magnetometer data were collected. These data are archived by BGS. Technical details of the survey are contained in BGS report WB/MG/68/28.
